Waiting for 2006

My 10 wishes for 2006:

-- An end to the war in Iraq. All of our Troops home.

-- Rescue of the Darfur refugees.

-- Action by Congress to check the power of the Executive, including action to roll back the President's surveillance, detention and torture programs.

-- Reversal of the GOP tax gifts to the wealthiest Americans.

-- Democratic control of the Senate. Erosion of the GOP House majority.

-- Restrictions and reforms aimed at the corrupt lobbying practices and extortion practiced by DeLay and Abramoff.

-- The resignations of Cheney, Rumsfeld and Rice.

-- The impeachment of Bush.

-- The conviction of Tom DeLay.

-- The capture and execution of Osama bin Laden.

Whatever your politics, we probably would agree 2005 sucked big time.
Whatever your wishes might be, may 2006 be better for all of us.
