Carnival of the Green #10Greetings from the Valley of the Rio Grande, a place of blue skies, cold nights and the smell of pinon and mesquite smoke in the air. Just want to check in on the Voice, see what's happening, and let you know Carnival of the Green #10 is now up at Unplugged Living. I had no time to enter anything, but as usual it is full of great information and writing about all manner of green and good subjects.I'd also love to let you know that we may soon be the delighted owners of a fifty -year-old pueblo style adobe house on the east side of the city. We've made our offer, it's been accepted, and tomorrow comes the home inspection. If all goes well, we'll proceed with the purchase, and come back in February to close the deal. I'll have a place to experiment with a Green Roof project, solar heating projects, xeriscape planting, grey-water collection ( not just legal here, but encouraged!) and who knows what else? I've already started crawling bookstores to research native plant information. I'm surprised by how little my broker and the friends I'm staying with seem to know about the trees and plants around them. I keep asking: "What's this? What's that tree with the little fuzzy things? What's that vine growing up that wall? What are these seed pods?" The answer is always: "Gee, I don't know." So, it's research time for me. From the damp and humid climate of coastal Delaware to the desert climate of New Mexico is going to be an extended learning experience! Nothing I enjoy more. | +Save/Share | | |
