SpeculationDid I mention that sitting around the house all day with nothing to do is driving me nuts? Normally, I would find a million things to do, but all involve walking or bending in some way. Blogging is something that should be easy to do, but my antique laptop will not allow me to do any research, it keeps telling me that I've done something illegal, and it kicks me offline. How does it know? The latest buzz in Washington is of course the Porter Goss thing, and his abrupt resignation as head of the CIA. The Bush administration is giving no reason for his departure, they don't have to explain anything, but without at least even some truly lame excuse, people are left to speculate wildly. There is of course talk of the Duke Cunningham scandal that seems to have grown wings and now implicates some in the DOD, as well as some of Porter Goss' own handpicked personnel. This scandal now involves all kinds of juicy things like parties and prostitutes, but since I've done something that my computer thinks is illegal, I can't link you to any of the dirt. Talkingpointsmemo has the best up to date info, so if you need a little weekend entertainment, you don't have to go to the movies, it's all happening in real life right in our nation's Capital. Anyway, I don't think the resignation of Goss has anything to do with the scandal, my gut tells me that it's one of two things. First scenario is that Goss is not going along with the program, maybe he's not finding that smoking gun needed to plunge us into a pre-emptive bombing of Iran, and he needed to be replaced by someone more supportive of the plan. His replacement is rumored to be some Air Force General, and he's probably pretty vested in the idea of bombing. The second scenario, is that it was a simple case of "My Dick is Bigger", and that Goss didn't like the idea of reporting to Negroponte, who now heads that massive umbrella of National intelligence. It's probably the scenario number two. Penis Size in Washington is way more important than national security. | +Save/Share | | |
