World Can't WaitI hate to say it, but with some progressive people it's a little like arguing with Creationists--no matter what gets revealed about the Democratic Party and where it really stands, some of these people just don't want to confront this reality, and the implications of it. What their argument ultimately conmes down to is that the Democrats are still different because no matter what they do--"they're not Republicans."--Bob Avakian On the Importance of World Can't Wait and the October 5 Day of Mass Resistance. It wasn't that long ago that many of our friends on the Left got suckered into that "Anybody But Bush" nonsense. New elections loom in the near future and a similar mantra is being offered by our friends on the Left: Anybody but the Republicans! Unfortunately what they really mean is anybody but the Republicans as long as they are Democrats. Either way, we lose. Let history be our guide and remember that real social change happens in the streets not in the voting booth. American workers didn't vote in some labor friendly government eighty years ago to gain the right to organize; they fought like hell at the grass roots level. Women fought for over a hundred years, and continue to struggle I might add, for political equality. Blacks, people concerned about the environment, and other minority groups continue to struggle for equality and social progress and none of it is going to come unless we get organized and challenge this corrupt system that is ran by the Democrats and Republicans. The World Can't Wait! We need to drive out the Bush regime and change the course this nation is taking. We can't afford to be tricked into thinking the Democrats are our allies. The Democrats are not "all we have." We have each other. We can make a difference. Join us on October 5th as we rally across the country to drive out the Bush regime and grapple with the directions this movement needs to take in order to affect real and lasting change. | +Save/Share | | |
