Carnival of the Green #117Yikes, the week is almost over and I haven't yet posted a link to the current Carnival of the Green. This week the Carnival - number 117 - is hosted by The Closet Environmentalist, a blog billing itself thusly:""A couple of environmental minded students setting out to live sustainably on a student budget. This is a record of the struggle, the successes and the failures. Along the way, the attempt to fight the negative stereotypes of being an 'environmentalist'" It's a short but entertaining gathering of postings on various aspects of life on this threatened planet. My faves among the postings are The Tao of Change's Lance Armstrong Goes Public, on the cycle champ's plans for opening a bike shop and commuting center in downtown Austin, TX, in May of this year. It will include bicycle/gear sales, bicycle storage and showers for commuters, a training facility and a cafe. Now you can ride in to work, grab a shower, breakfast and a chat with other riders before continuing to the office (by foot, bus, or pedicab). Our city, which has quite a strong cycling commute community, could certainly use one of these facilities, as, I'm sure, could every American city. Second favorite is David, The Good Human's post asking the big obvious question: What Exactly Are We Waiting For Anyway? So,It's all good, baby: go read, be enlightened, enjoy.
