Join the Antiwar Movement and Make FriendsDid I mention that the Code Pink women were the best looking protesters in the March? I was stuck inside a crowd of people, and since I'm kind of short, most of my photos turned out a bit like this one.As the situation continues to degenerate in Iraq, and our presence there continues to worsen the situation, one might wonder when a serious exit strategy might find it's way into a bill on the floor of the House or the Senate. At the march this weekend, the absence of any leading Democrat was glaringly apparent. The strategy of Democrats to let the Republicans sink us further into this losing game may work for them politically, after all, it was the Bush Administration that lied it's way into Iraq, and it's incompetence of rushing to Baghdad so quickly, and leaving the rest of the country to do what they would, in this case revolt against an occupying force that looted it's assets and never really got the reconstruction going. The stated goals of the Administration have never been accomplished, no weapons were ever found, and the democracy that we have brought to the Iraqi people is more like an Islamic Republic. Maybe the Democrats are silent because the ClusterF--k is beyond any solution, and the worse it gets, the better they look. The thing that is wrong with that strategy is that silence = death. Every day that our leaders dick around passing estate tax laws and huge highway budgets, is a day that brings death to more soldiers and Iraqi citizens. What do we want? Peace. When do we want it? Now. | +Save/Share | | |
