Operation Cease Fire

As Neil muses, on his post preceding this one, perhaps it's unpatriotic to say anything political on this day of mourning and memory. However, since the president keeps bringing up this day to his political advantage any time he possibly can, I have come to the conclusion that it must be patriotic. No one could accuse the president of a lack of patriotism, could they?
So, because we are only two weeks away from the weekend of this planned antiwar mobilization, I feel that this weekend is exactly the time to start putting this information in the public eye. Clicking on the banner at the top of this post will take you to United for Peace and Justice, one of the main sponsors of the weekend, and a schedule of events for the three days. Here is the invitation:

Sickened by the killing, the torture, the destruction, and the spiraling human and financial costs of this illegal and immoral war? It's time to let Congress and the White House know: We're fed up and we will hold you accountable! Join United for Peace and Justice in Washington, D.C. for three massive days of action against the war: a major march, rally, and festival on Saturday, September 24; an interfaith religious service and day of grassroots trainings on Sunday, September 25; and a large-scale grassroots lobbying day and mass nonviolent direct action and civil disobedience on Monday, September 26.
Buses to DC and housing once you are there are being co-ordinated through this site as well, follow the links. Please, help show this administration how this country feels about this war. Don't let today's Pentagon propaganda march hold center stage - let's fill the city to the brim with those who disagree.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
