Good News, FinallyJust read this news from Pakistan about the killing of several persons close to the top leadership of Al Qaeda. Some of the information seems a bit ambiguous, but my sense is that this is worth celebrating.
I am inclined to say that we need more of this, that this has taken too long, that Iraq has been a huge distraction from this effort, that we should long ago have nailed bin Laden and Al Zawahiri -- in short, I am inclined to point out the many ways in which this does not at all vindicate George W Bush.
But I feel compelled to stop and recognize that - unless this story is just pure bullshit (and one must be skeptical) - this is a significant blow to Al Qaeda, and to express my hope that we will soon see further successes in this effort to kill the leaders of Al Qaeda.
