Life is good...

Today at 230pm, in a Court of Honor to be held at the church that has sponsored my Scout Troop for the past 40 years, my son Dan will be presented with his Eagle Scout award.

I am celebrating my son, my children, my family, and everything that is good in life. And though there is no political point to this post, I wanted to express my pride and joy here too.

The picture above was taken in August of 2001, in Key West. We were in the Keys for a week of sailing and snorkeling in the coral reefs, along with 14 other members of our Troop. Dan is on the left; my older son, Jim, is on the right. Both Eagle Scouts.

The news may be bad. The world may be a mess.

But today I celebrate the goodness of life.

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
