Steve Gilliard vs. La ZorraLa Zorra can't let it go about the poor persecuted white boys of the Duke lacrosse team: Fact and myth duke it out by Kathleen Parker Orlando Sentinel 04/19/06.Steve Gilliard, who has been following this story for a while, comments on La Zorra's latest. He mentions by way of introduction that La Zorra is "an especially odious person". Gilliard, unlike La Zorra, has some insightful things to say about the case, which to him has more to do with gender issues around rape than with the racial issue. But he also describes La Zorra's schtick well: People like Parker pander to racism, yet refuse to admit that they do so. They have little, to no clue, that every time they attack [Jesse] Jackson or [Al] Sharpton, that increases their effectiveness, because it only proves their point about people like her. Like so many conservatives, they think we need people to remind us that bad things happened in the past. Uh, racism is a personal experience. Not talking about it will not make it go away. | +Save/Share | | |
