This Is Fun

It really is. Muchas gracias to The Huffington Post for this video from CSPAN: Speaker Hastert Proves He Can't Sing The National Anthem... It's not just the fact that the man can't carry a tune in a bucket (and it IS the world's most difficult song to sing well), but the fact that he doesn't know the words. Listen to him stumble over the lyrics to the song every American schoolchild has to learn. Actually, my immigrant ESL students had to learn the words, and melody, to our Himno Nacional, and they did, with gusto. Wish we could have heard the rest of his House cohort as clearly, as they made their way through the thickets of Francis Scott Key's poem.

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."

-- Cecil Day-Lewis from Where Are The War Poets?
