The Escalation is Escalating Violence

It appears the escalation is helping to escalate the violence in Iraq. Recent data from the Defense Department shows an upward trend in violence over the past four months You can read the story at Reuters here. Perhaps the most insightful piece of information is that attacks against civilians are on the decline:

The June 2007 statistics confirmed a significant decline in the targeting of Iraqi civilians, with such attacks falling 18 percent to 763 from a 2007 high of 932 in May.
The majority of attacks are against coalition forces. Iraqis want American forces out of Iraq. Americans want American forces out of Iraq. Now, wouldn't it be a wonderful lesson in democracy if our so-called leaders listened to the people for once?

FEATURED QUOTE

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
