Small Victories

It breaks my heart to look at the picture to the left, but that's what dog fighting is all about. It's disgusting. It's cruel. It's wrong. In a recent post I urged you to contact the NFL and that Atlanta Falcon quarterback, Michael Vick, be suspended for his involvement in a dog fighting ring. I just got a wonderful email from the Humane Society thanking us for voicing our concerns to the NFL:

Thank you so much for urging the NFL to suspend Michael Vick! Because of your action and those of more than 263,000 others who contacted the NFL through our campaign, the league yesterday ordered Vick to stay out of training camp. We're pleased, and we will press the NFL to keep Vick off the football field until the resolution of his felony dogfighting charges in federal court.

This is a great start, but we have to keep the pressure on. The Humane Society is urging us to contact Nike and pressure them to drop him as a sponsor. Click here to join the fight. Dog fighting has no place in a civilized society.
