Time for Clinton to take a standCindy Sheehan "...accused Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton of not doing enough to challenge the Bush administration's Iraq policies", reports The New York Times. The article includes a statement by a spokesman for Senator Hillary Clinton "...that the senator, while voting to give President Bush the authority to go to war, has been very critical of the way he has chosen to use that authority." Really? And so what the hell does that mean? Are you for "staying the course", or are you for getting out? Do you support Russ Feingold's call for a date certain by which American Troops will leave Iraq, or are you wedded to Mr. Bush's floundering, blood-soaked, blind-folded, counter-productive commitment to "more of the same"? The sad fact is that this war is made possible by people like Clinton, who lack the courage to stand up and speak out. We Democrats have our own Mike Browns -- the incompetent political hacks who do not deserve the leadership positions they hold. Compared to the Bush administration's war in Iraq, FEMA's response to Katrina looks like a paragon of efficiency, good planning, and effective leadership. And every day that passes compounds the damage done to America's national security. We are not safer, and it is time to change course. "More of the same" is no longer acceptable. Are you listening, Senator Clinton? | +Save/Share | | |
