THE PRESIDENT: I signed that law. But Senator Kerry was part of an out-of-the-mainstream minority that voted against the ban. In the course of this campaign, he said the heart and soul of America can be found in Hollywood.

AUDIENCE: Booo!

THE PRESIDENT: No, most American families do not look to Hollywood as a source of values. The heart and soul of America is found in places like Alamogordo, New Mexico. (Applause.)

He repeats the same line, over and over, through at least 33 more towns all across America.


Reality:

LOS ANGELES (AP) - President Bush took Air Force One across the country Thursday to see a retired version of the presidential plane and help raise money for Republicans.

Bush planned to speak Friday at a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Air Force One Pavilion at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif.

Thursday night, he helped raise about $1 million for the Republican National Committee at a fund-raiser hosted by Robert Day, a billionaire who lives in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles.

Bel Air, with Beverly Hills and Brentwood, is part of the "tri-B" area where Hollywood money lives.
