Impossible ThingsSouthSiders Sweep the World Series!I would so love to be in Chicago tonight. Do you think this trend of underdog teams winning championships is a sign from the gods (or whoever) that everything is possible? Could 2005 be a turning point in the laws of nature, maybe gravity does not always apply, there are moments when pigs fly, water runs uphill, and the White Sox win the World Series? A turning point when top dogs become felons, a nation gives its heart and attention to the poor and downtrodden among us, and the curtain is drawn back to reveal that the Great and Powerful Oz is a mere man, not much more smart or gifted than the guy that runs the Deli on the corner. If the Sox can win the World Series, maybe anything is possible. We can eliminate poverty, reduce harmful emissions, find a vaccine for AIDS, develop new sources for clean and renewable energy. It's all possible. All we need is a little faith. And the will to make it happen. | +Save/Share | | |
