Do you want Pat and his Buddies Running This Country?

Not really, but look at it this way - if someone dies or is maimed in a traffic accident in Dover PA during the next year, the survivors will not have to look far for whom to blame. Pat Robertson has called the wrath of God down upon this small backwater burg for having the audacity to vote out the CRWXtian school board members who tried to gut their science classes of credibility by insisting on the teaching of "intelligent design."

Robertson and many of his CRWXtian buddies just don't get it. Americans are tired of being told what to do by fanatics that claim to be godly yet condone torture, condone strengthening the rich while weakening the poor and who try to force their pathetic form of Xtianity on all America.

But people like Robertson who have no political power in this country don't concern me. The CRWXtian whackos who DO have political power concern me greatly. For instance...

The wonder workers at Merck have finally come up with a cure for Human Paillioma Virus (HPV) commonly known as cervical cancer, the 2nd leading cancer killer of women in the world. Clinical trials reveal the new vaccine is 100% successful in preventing the virus that causes most cervical cancer. Is that great news or what?

No sooner had the bells been rung, the joyous noise sounded, the fears of over 10,000 women per year who contract this killer cancer relieved, when in steps the CRWXtians to put a damper on the glee.

According to our Conservative Right Wing Xtian friends, if people didn't have sex in an ungodly way, there would be no cervical cancer in the world. Leslie Unruh of the National Abstinence Clearinghouse said, "I personally object to vaccinating children against a disease that is 100% preventable with proper sexual behavior." Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council concurred, saying he would not allow his daughter to receive the immunization, "It sends the wrong message. Our concern is that this vaccine will be marketed to a segment of the population that should be getting a message about abstinence."

What are these people afraid of? Think Dover, PA. Gene Rudd of the Christian Medical and Dental Association laid it all on the line saying, "I've talked to some who have said this is going to sabotage our abstinence message." It isn't cervical cancer these people are afraid of, it's losing their abstinence stand in our schools.

Remember, folks, these people control a majority in the House of Representatives and the Senate, at least until November of next year. And if they start raising holy hell, a vaccine that could end cervical cancer forever might not make it to the market here in the United States where over 4,000 deaths are attributed to it every year.

Can't happen you think? Hey, haven't we learned yet that fearmongering is a popular practice of right wingers. This is the same crew that wants to teach our children that "touching another person's genitals can result in pregnancy" and that "loneliness, embarrassment, substance abuse and personal disappointment can be eliminated by being abstinent until marriage." These ideas spill over into society as well. Plan B emergency contraception is being kept off the shelves of your local drugstore because of these people. If they can accomplish this, they can accomplish anything they put their seedy minds to.

What can be done about it? Think Dover, PA. Vote these religious idiots out of office where they can condemn everyone for not listening to them but have no real power over anyone but their own family members. One wonders how Tony Perkins would feel if his daughter contracted cervical cancer and died from it when it could have been prevented with a simple vaccination.

Do you really want these people in charge of our schools, our cities, our country? Think Dover, PA!

"It is the logic of our times
No subject for immortal verse
That we who lived by honest dreams
Defend the bad against the worse."
