Thrown a CurveballAs a longtime fan of John LeCarre, a reader of every one of his novels, I'm a sucker for twisted spy stories. The LA Times has one for us today, not fiction, but a twisted true story of the times we live in. THE CURVEBALL SAGA How U.S. Fell Under the Spell of 'Curveball' - The Iraqi informant's German handlers say they had told U.S. officials that his information was 'not proven,' and were shocked when President Bush and Colin L. Powell used it in key prewar speeches. It's a fairly lengthy story, but I'd love for everyone in this country to read it. If I were a parent whose child had died in this obscene war into which we entered based on information from sources such as this, my anger would be unbounded. Cindy Sheehan is a model of patience and moderation by comparison. Why aren't the streets around the White House full of raging mothers? The road to that ranch in the Texas Hill Country pounded by the marching feet of families demanding the truth, demanding answers?| +Save/Share | | |
