Wheeee! Here We go!Did I predict that 2006 was going to be great? Here in Washington, the major players are still out on Holiday leave, but the lawyers representing Jack Abramoff are busy cutting a deal with prosecutors. I drove to work today, (walking was not really an option since the weather here continues to freak me out) and even though I had cranked Midnight Oil on my car stero, (I played the song Blue Sky Mining hoping that those poor guys in West Virginia would find a way out) I could hear the loud THWUNK! PLOP! THWUNK! PLOP! of the shit from the scandal to end all scandals hitting the fan, and flying in all directions. Now I could be overly optimistic about the impact of the Abramoff scandal, but it's pretty clear that some members of Congress are deeply implicated. There's Ney from Ohio for sure. And Delay is in it up to his neck. And Doolittle from California. There's the guy from the Department of the Interior, and the guy from OMB already charged with obstruction. Oh and Grover Norquist. Ralph Reed. I've really got to dig into this to give you the proper scope of what's really beginning here in Washington, but I promise you, the roots of corruption run deep, and they are about to be dug up and exposed to the light of day. Oh....and those guys previously mentioned....they're all Republicans. Are you having fun yet? | +Save/Share | | |
