Local ActivismWhat do you do with the local coffee house when Star Bucks has ran it out of business and left your community with a gaping eye-sore of an empty store? Well I'm sure you could come up with a million ideas--open another Starbucks, right?--but I just love what these wonderful people did in my town. They took the old coffee house and made it Eminent Domain Abuse central. The pictures below are of the store front, and as you can see it is filled with information about the on-going battle with the city. There's a ton of information here. On the door there's even some information you can take home with you! And, as the big yellow sign says, there's a big rally planned for today in front of our City Hall. Frankly, I think it's a wonderful use of this store. You might not be able to tell but these postings are mostly on the inside of the store, which has me really curious as to how they got permission to do this. I haven't spoken to the people/group behind this yet but I'm definitely going to find out how they went about getting permission to do this. Maybe they own the store? I don't know. But can't you just imagine every blighted store front filled with socially conscious information? | +Save/Share | | |
