No HonorI used to have a lot of respect for men and women who serve in our armed forces. But the leaders of our military have brought such dishonor and shame upon this country, and upon their own institutions, that I honestly must say that they have lost my respect. The military is comprised of leaders who sell out for advancement, and enlisted men and women who signed up in many cases because they had so few economic opportunities in Bush's Ownership Society. And when the shit hits the fan, they find some enlisted scapegoat to prosecute. Such is the character of our military leaders today -- no honor, no integrity. The few generals with any integrity have all gone by now. Shinsecki got sacked for telling Rumsfeld we could not succeed in Iraq with a small force. Franks got the Medal of Freedom for going along with Rummy. And look what has happened. Now Myers has his Medal of Freedom too. He and Casey and Abizaid -- the men who brought us Abu Ghraib, and who abandoned the Geneva Convention and long-standing proscription of inhumane treatment of prisoners -- they may be proud but I hold them in profound contempt. Yesterday, the new Chairman of the Joint Chiefs showed that he is also Bush's boy. Although we long ago established that there was no Saddam -- 9/11 connection, no Al Qaeda in Iraq, Peter Pace is only too happy to sell the president's infamous justification for the war -- even on Veteran's Day. Another whore in uniform touting propaganda for the boss. These generals are all Abu Ghraib. They are all Rumsfeld's incompetent "stuff happens" numbskulls. They are liars and whores for Bush. They are losers and mindless destroyers. They do not deserve to lead, and they do not deserve our respect. Here's Pace making the president's worn-out and discredited argument for the war, on Veteran's Day: Pace said the fight today is against an enemy wishing to destroy those freedoms and opportunities. He said al Qaeda has written down its goals just as Adolf Hitler did in "Mein Kampf." "You can read what al Qaeda wants to do: They want to destroy our way of life. They want to take away the opportunities for Americans to join together like this and celebrate our freedom," he said. "I'm here to tell you ... that there are 2.4 million Americans who are in uniform today who are flat not going to let that happen." | +Save/Share | | |
