Trust

The most important thing I've ever learned from religion, is that religion was created to divide us, not to allow us to live in peace.

The second most important thing I've learned from religion, is that there is only one God, and this God is the same for all living things, regardless of denomination or sect.

The third thing I've learned from religion is that all life is a miracle, a gift from Somewhere. Our very existence in a world full of danger and frightening realities such as tarantulas and crocodiles says something about the idea of co-existence, all of God's creatures and that sort of spiritual stuff.

The fourth and most important thing I've learned from religion, is that we humans don't know shit about God, and if any human says that they do, they are lying.

And the thing that we all should take from religion, is to trust your heart. We all know the difference between right and wrong, and we all know that there should be no circumstances or edicts that say we should destroy another human. This edict, whether it comes from your church or your state, is completely immoral if it tells you to take the miracle of life from another. And what's kind of crazy, is that I'm now pretty sure that we're not supposed to kill animals, which puts me in the position of having to give up Cheeseburgers and Porterhouse Steaks.

Oh My Goddess, I'm a vegetarian. I can't tell you how much that sucks.

But if you believe in the sanctity of all life, then you must hold true in your heart that all life is sacred, and that the opposite of life, war, is a sin.

Trust yourselves, trust the basic goodness in all of us, trust your hearts.

Don't give in to fear.
